Let's Be Honest

Let's be honest: Accountants are not known for their bubbly, outgoing personalities. Most prefer the company of their spreadsheets - and cats- to people.

Yet, without them, the world of business would be chaos.

These highly reserved, number-crunching bean counters provide a business with that reassuring "At least someone knows what's going on" feeling. Plus, without these beloved tax terrorists, the taxman would be much richer and business owners poorer.

If you are reading this, you are probably considering hiring an accountant. Most likely your company accounts or self-assessment tax return are due soon and you are weighing up the pros and cons of doing it yourself.

Now, whilst you can do your own tax return, we wouldn't recommend it.

There is a lot more to finances than submitting your accounts. Whether you're self-employed or a small business, having a good accountant really does make a big difference.

So, if you are still wasting time collecting receipts in shoeboxes, spending hours writing down every expenditure that you can remember and being, er... slightly creative, with your business expenditures and equipment, you are wasting valuable time.

A good accountant will help you stay on top of everything and will save you money the correct way.

The first advantage is the amount of time we can save for you, time that you can then spend running your business and increasing sales.

Secondly, although hiring an accountant may seem expensive at first, we usually help you save a lot more money than you can on your own, and, without the stress. Running a business is hard enough; if you use a chartered accountant to help with the finances it will make things much, much easier.

So how do you go about finding a good accountant? And aren't they all the same?

Here at Sigma Chartered Accountancy, whilst we too are obsessed with our cats and spreadsheets, we also have one other obsession, and that is business growth.
